The book Dirt Ollies and the associated film, Mongolian Tyres captures a visual experience through the capitol of Mongolia and its surrounding landscapes. Inspired by a photo of a giant skate park in the centre of Ulaanbaatar which was shot two years beforehand, a group of 11 skateboarders took the challenge in July 2004 and found themselves face to face with the ruins of the park, that had been torn down just three weeks earlier. This is a voyage through the joy and pain of skateboarding, random architecture, endless countryside and the knowledge of how to ollie on dirt.
Sponsored by Carhartt Europe, the book features photography by Pontus Alv (Sweden), Alexander Basile (Germany), Bertrand Trichet (France) and the skateboarding of Scott Bourne (USA) and Quentin de Briey (Spain), amongst others.
